In 2007 Joanne was awarded the status as a Higher Court Advocate and is able to represent clients in the Crown Court, High Court and Appeal Courts in a role that was historically reserved for Barristers.
Since Legal Aid changes came into force Joanne has actively campaigned to fight for access to Justice and worked as a local representative during the Carter Review and was on the Committee of the Halifax Law Society during this vital period. Joanne believes in Access to Justice and has a keen interest in providing services to single fathers or mothers who have been unable to pursue Family Matters because of legal aid exclusions or high priced solicitor fees. She is passionate about making justice accessible to all and understands that it is people not resources that matter most.
Joanne has detailed knowledge of Mental Health Legislation and has regularly been called upon to assist clients with Mental Health issues. Joanne has also dealt with a number of Animal Welfare matters, Council Legislation matters, Security Licences and Private Car Hire Licences to name but a few.
Joanne is a local solicitor and her down to earth, friendly and professional attitude has earned her a place as a highly respected and highly regarded advocate within the profession and with clients alike. What you don't know is that when not working, Joanne has managed to achieve success in a variety of activities. She is a Grade 8 Cellist who was part of the Halifax Symphony Orchestra for a number of years and still performs when time allows. She trained in Wadaru Sport Karate and to date is a Brown Belt. More recently she took a Rock Climbing Course at the Leeds wall where she is a member. Joanne also enjoys reading and writing and one day is determined to complete her book which has been a work in progress for some time now--- realistically work comes first.
